Perfect for first time visitors, the Namaqua National Park is a must. The Park is situated in the Karoo. With about 3 500 plant species, of which 1 000 of them only grow in Namaqualand, the Namaqua national park is a living art gallery. The Park is also home to gemsbok, springbok, red hartebeest, klipspringer, aardvark, baboon, steenbok, duiker, porcupine, black-backed jackal and leopard. The park also plays host to a variety of Birds that are often found in the arid western regions. In the spring time with the Karoo in full bloom, the 5km Skilpad circular route is truly a sight to behold. The Park itself is home to 134 different vegetation types, fascinating bird life and reptiles. The proper way to experience this route is with a mountain bike (Unfortunately we do not supply mountain bikes so visitors should bring their own). Apart from a picnic area, a shop and a kiosk the park also offers 2 two-hour walking trails. The park is accessible to off-road vehicles through 220km of road.
